Donald Trump held a press conference yesterday (July 30) about the health sector, but something aside from the controversial new policy got people talking.
Speaking from the White House on Wednesday, Trump delivered remarks on his administration’s new initiative to ‘Make Health Technology Great Again’.
Trump’s administration says it has secured commitments from more than 60 health and information technology companies to participate in a plan to make Medicare patient data more accessible.
However, following the press conference, there were a few moments that got people talking on social media.
While Dr Mehmet Oz was speaking, Trump appeared to be struggling to keep his eyes open. He was spotted taking very long blinks and looking rather uninterested.

Many on Reddit have pointed out that Trump repeatedly took shots at former President Joe Biden and gave him the unflattering nickname ‘Sleepy Joe’ at a dig at his mental capacity and mental sharpness.
Reflecting on this moment, one user commented: “He’s so mad when he has to sit through someone else talking you can see it on his face. But he softens a bit if he hears exaggerated flattering praise.”
Another joked: “It’s all about effort. He’s tired only because he’s not the one yapping. The dude has no problems tweeting all hours of the night.”
With another agreeing and commenting: “Dude spent like 6 years calling Biden ‘Sleepy Joe’ yet he’s the one who falls asleep every time he sits down.”
A fourth person added: “He’s old and spends his nights rage tweeting. Can we please elect someone that is 65 or less for f**ks sake.”
While another simply commented: “Oh dang. That’s crazy. Where are the Epstein files?”
While Trump and his administration said that their new private health tracking system will ultimately allow patients to more seamlessly track and share their medical records or data among doctors, hospital systems and health apps, it has already garnered some criticism.
For example, the Apple Health app, that can keep track of your daily step count and sleep, could access lab results from your doctor’s office, ultimately putting the information together, offering a fuller picture of your health.
Georgetown University law professor Lawrence Gostin, who specializes in public health, argued there were certainly privacy concerns with this move.
He said: “There are enormous ethical and legal concerns.
“Patients across America should be very worried that their medical records are going to be used in ways that harm them and their families.”

It has been suggested that Donald Trump may not be president by the end of the year.
Trump started his second term as president in January, and in his short time as POTUS, has caused many controversies.
From his ‘Big, Beautiful Bill’ and his fallout with Elon Musk, to his links to disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein and that meeting with Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the White House, the president has been no stranger to causing a stir.
His alleged ties to Epstein has proven to be a big issue for Trump, particularly in light of his administration seeming to cherry pick which files they’re releasing on the convicted sex offender instead of just publishing them all.
But in a move to try appease his nay-sayers, Trump recently called for the justice department to release all grand jury testimony in the Epstein case.

He announced on Truth Social on July 19: “I have asked the Justice Department to release all Grand Jury testimony with respect to Jeffrey Epstein, subject only to Court Approval. With that being said, and even if the Court gave its full and unwavering approval, nothing will be good enough for the troublemakers and radical left lunatics making the request. It will always be more, more, more. MAGA!”
Despite his apparent efforts to keep people happy, some political commentators think his ties to Epstein could be Trump’s downfall and see him replaced by JD Vance by the end of 2025.

TikToker Josh Greene shared his thoughts on why he believes this will happen in a video that’s been viewed over 275,000 times at the time of writing.
Greene noted that what he was saying was just speculation but insisted that there were ‘signs’ that Trump won’t finish his second term as POTUS.
“His popularity his plummeting right now,” said Greene.
“Vance is removed from the Epstein saga — at least to some degree,” he added.
As well as Epstein, Trump’s health could work against him too following his recent chronic venous insufficiency (CVI) diagnosis. Cleveland Clinic states that it occurs when your leg veins become damaged and can’t work as they should.
“He is not in good shape,” Greene said of the president.

People were quick to share their own thoughts on the matter, with many suggesting that Vance would be no better than Trump.
“He’s just as worse,” wrote one person. A second added: “Vance is a danger to the USA, just as bad as Trump if not worse.”
Others pointed out that it’s highly unlikely that Trump would voluntarily step down as president.
Someone insisted: “There is absolutely zero chance Trump would ever resign.”
Echoing similar sentiments, another wrote: “I think Trump’s ego is too big to resign.”

President Donald Trump has been diagnosed with a vein condition.
The White House’s physician has revealed that the 79-year-old received a chronic venous insufficiency (CVI) diagnosis, which has sparked health concerns for the POTUS.
Cleveland Clinic states that it occurs when your leg veins become damaged and can’t work as they should.
“Normally, valves in your leg veins keep blood flowing back up to your heart. But CVI damages those valves, causing blood to pool in your legs. This increases pressure in your leg veins and causes symptoms like swelling and ulcers,” it explains.
It has resulted in swelling being visible in Trump’s lower legs close to his ankles.
Speaking at a press conference today (July 17), White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt went into detail about the diagnosis, explaining that the Republican underwent medical tests to examine the swelling to his legs, as well as bruising he sustained to the back of his right hand.

“Importantly, there was no evidence of deep vein thrombosis or arterial disease,” Leavitt said, as she read out a message from Trump’s physician.
She went on to explain that the president’s lab work included bloods being taken, and cardiac tests taken.
“All results were within normal limits,” she added.
When she was asked if Trump was in any discomfort from the bruising, she replied that he is in ‘excellent health’ and hasn’t been in pain.
Yes, the bruises have been on full-display for a number of months.
While on his campaign trail last year, eagle-eyed viewers noticed the president had what looked like a nasty yellow bruise on his right hand at various points, which seemingly re-appeared in photographs when he met the French president, Emmanuel Macron, in the Oval Office in February.

Then days later in March, two darker marks were seen on the palm of the same hand, which White House officials brushed off as signs Trump had simply been busy at work.
Then again in April, the dark mark on the back of his hand was seen sprawled across it while he presented an award.
As for how common CVI is, Cleveland Clinic estimate that around one in three adults suffer from varicose veins, while each year one in 50 of those develop chronic venous insufficiency.
“Overall, chronic venous insufficiency affects about 1 in 20 adults,” the health care site explains.
So, it sounds like President Trump is going to fare well despite this minor inconvenience.

Donald Trump and Emmanuel Macron couldn’t exactly agree as the French president ended up correcting the POTUS in an awkward moment.
Donald Trump has had a lot to say about Ukraine regarding the country’s ongoing war with Russia in recent weeks.
Most controversially, earlier this week, Donald Trump called Ukrainian president, Volodymir Zelensky, a dictator. Zelensky responded by arguing that Trump was ‘living in a disinformation space’ governed by Moscow.

Despite the international tensions, leaders believe they are moving towards peace talks.
Most recently, Emmanuel Macron visited Washington for talks with the White House, and during a discussion with the press, the conversation moved to Ukraine.
In a CSpan video, Macron is seen being asked if the US should be compensated for the money it has given Ukraine, to which he replied that Ukraine must first be fully compensated for the war.
Trump argued that Europe is ‘loaning the money to Ukraine’ and would be ‘getting their money back’, something he doesn’t believe America will.
However, in a rather awkward moment, Macron corrected the President saying: “No, in fact. To be frank, we paid. We paid 60 per cent of the total effort.”
He said European nations provided ‘real money’ just like the US had, through a combination of ‘loans, guarantees and grants’.
Trump then fired back at a journalist “If you believe that, it’s okay with me.
“But they get their money back, we don’t, and now we do.”
Macron couldn’t help but interject: “In fact we both do.”
On social media, Trump took criticism for being corrected with many praising how Macron handled the situation.

On Twitter user said: “A memorable moment in contrasting leadership communication. It’s refreshing to see candid comments rather than meaningless platitudes or cautious timidity.”
Another said: “trump, embarrassed, ‘and if you believe that, it’s okay with me’.
“He just couldn’t say, I stand corrected, could he? What a sorry excuse for a president.”
With a third adding: “It’s okay to be wrong and be corrected. Accept it! We all have tons of moments like that. But. 40% from the U.S. is still too much.”
During his visit Macron also said that a truce between the two nations, Ukraine and Russia, could be agreed in the coming weeks but said that the peace deals ‘must not be a surrender of Ukraine’.
Trump has echoed a similar sentiment but has been more concerned about the cost the war is having on Americans rather than potential concession of giving up land.

President Donald Trump has signed a new executive order that aims to crack down on homelessness in the US, and it’s left social media users extremely concerned.
On Thursday (July 24), Trump signed an order seeking ‘the reversal of Federal or State judicial precedents and the termination of consent decrees’ in order to make it easier for cities to remove homeless people from the streets and into treatment centers.
The order calls for Attorney General Pam Bondi to ‘seek, in appropriate cases, the reversal of Federal or State judicial precedents and the termination of consent decrees that impede the United States’ policy of encouraging civil commitment of individuals with mental illness who pose risks to themselves or the public or are living on the streets and cannot care for themselves in appropriate facilities for appropriate periods of time’.
It further adds: “Shifting homeless individuals into long-term institutional settings for humane treatment through the appropriate use of civil commitment will restore public order. Surrendering our cities and citizens to disorder and fear is neither compassionate to the homeless nor other citizens.”

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt told USA TODAY that Trump is ‘delivering on his commitment to Make America Safe Again and end homelessness across America’.
“By removing vagrant criminals from our streets and redirecting resources toward substance abuse programs, the Trump Administration will ensure that Americans feel safe in their own communities and that individuals suffering from addiction or mental health struggles are able to get the help they need,” she said.
However, the new order has caused some outrage, with the National Homelessness Law Center (NHLC) calling it ‘dangerous’.
In a statement, they said it would ‘make homelessness worse’ as it ‘deprives people of their basic rights’.
They continued to say that the order doesn’t do anything to ‘lower the cost of housing or help people make ends meet’, adding: “The safest communities are those with the most housing and resources, not those that make it a crime to be poor or sick.
“Forced treatment is unethical, ineffective, and illegal. People need stable housing and access to healthcare.

“Rather, Trump’s actions will force more people into homelessness, divert taxpayer money away from people in need, and make it harder for local communities to solve homelessness.”
This order comes after the Supreme Court’s decision in June to ban people from sleeping rough in public places, according to the BBC.
And Trump’s newest executive order has sparked concern amongst social media users.
On a Reddit thread regarding the order, one person claimed it was ‘the republican solution to actual societal problems’ to instead ‘lock the people away where the rest of society doesn’t have to see them instead of helping them recover and get better and solve their problems’.
While another said: “This is terrifying!”
UNILAD has reached out to the White House for comment.
