Trump dubbed a ‘disgrace to humanity’ after latest comment about ICE shooting victim Renee Nicole Good

The shooting of Renee Nicole Good has reverberated throughout the United States.

Furthermore, recent comments from President Trump have exacerbated the situation.

A deadly shooting involving an ICE agent in Minneapolis has caused a nationwide uproar, sparking outrage, protests, and a significant political controversy. As alarming footage from the incident circulates rapidly on social media, responses have been immediate — and profoundly polarized.

The incident took place on Wednesday morning, January 7, while federal immigration officers were executing operations in Minneapolis. Video footage available online seemingly depicts an ICE agent trying to open the door of a woman’s vehicle as she attempts to flee. Shortly thereafter, a second officer discharges his firearm.

The vehicle can then be observed moving forward before colliding with a parked car.

‘She was an incredible person’

The woman was subsequently identified by her mother as 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good. As reported by the Minnesota Star Tribune, she was fatally shot just a few blocks from her residence.

Renee’s mother, Donna Ganger, informed the Star Tribune that her daughter resided in the Twin Cities with her partner and that the family was alerted to her death late Wednesday morning.

“That’s so senseless” that she was killed, Ganger remarked after being informed of some details by a reporter. “She must have been terrified.”

Ganger emphasized that her daughter had no participation in the anti-ICE demonstrations.

“Renee was among the most compassionate individuals I have ever encountered,” she stated. “She exhibited immense kindness throughout her life. She was nurturing, forgiving, and affectionate. She truly was an extraordinary human being.”

Political leaders respond: “Public Murder”

As the video continued to spread, strong denunciations emerged from Democratic officials.

Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez characterized the incident as a “public murder.”

“What we witnessed today was a criminal taking the life of a woman by shooting her in the head while she attempted to escape for her life,” she remarked, labeling it the “embodiment of every American’s worst nightmare.”

Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey provided an emotional and outraged reaction during a press briefing shortly after the incident.

“There is little I can express, once again, that will improve this situation,” Frey stated. “However, I do have a message for our community, for our city, and I have a message for ICE.”

“To ICE, get the f— out of Minneapolis,” he declared angrily.

“They are not here to ensure safety in this city. Their actions do not contribute to safety in America. Instead, they are instigating chaos and mistrust,” Frey continued. “They are tearing families apart. They are creating disorder on our streets and, in this instance, quite literally taking lives.”

“They are already attempting to portray this as an act of self-defense. Having viewed the footage myself, I want to tell everyone directly, that is nonsense,” he added.

Trump blames the victim

President Donald Trump, on the other hand, adopted a markedly different viewpoint — placing the blame entirely on the woman who lost her life.

“I have just watched the footage of the incident that occurred in Minneapolis, Minnesota. It is a dreadful sight to behold,” Trump stated on Truth Social.

“The woman who was yelling was clearly a professional provocateur, and the woman operating the vehicle was extremely disorderly, obstructing and resisting, who then violently, willfully, and brutally ran over the ICE Officer, who appears to have shot her in self-defense.

“From the video provided, it is difficult to believe he is still alive, but he is currently recuperating in the hospital,” Trump continued. “The situation is being examined in its entirety, but the reason these events are occurring is that the Radical Left is threatening, assaulting, and targeting our Law Enforcement Officers and ICE agents on a daily basis.”

Trump concluded: “They are merely attempting to fulfill their duty of MAKING AMERICA SAFE.

”We need to stand by and protect our Law Enforcement Officers from this Radical Left Movement of Violence and Hate! PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP.”

Internet erupts — divided reactions

Trump’s remarks provoked an immediate online backlash.

“You are a horrible, disgusting disgrace to humanity,” one user commented.

Another user remarked that Trump is “never going to admit to doing anything wrong. Ever.”

“He believes that people no longer trust what they see with their own eyes—only his,” a third individual stated. “It is a cult.”

Conversely, others expressed their support for the president and the ICE agent involved.

“When law enforcement instructs you to stop repeatedly, you STOP,” one individual noted. “This isn’t new; we learn this in elementary school. This kind of behavior is unnecessary.”

Another individual expressed, “I’m glad to see the ICE Officer survived. Excellent training. Thank you, ICE Officer; please recover swiftly. GO MAGA!”

Homeland Security supports the ICE agent.

The Department of Homeland Security reiterated Trump’s viewpoint, issuing a statement that defended the actions of the ICE agent.

“Today, ICE officers in Minneapolis were engaged in targeted operations when rioters began obstructing them, and one of these violent rioters weaponized her vehicle, attempting to run over our law enforcement officers in a bid to kill them—an act of domestic terrorism.

“An ICE officer, fearing for his life, the lives of his fellow law enforcement officers, and the safety of the public, discharged defensive shots. He utilized his training and preserved his own life as well as that of his fellow officers. The alleged assailant was struck and is deceased. The injured ICE officers are anticipated to make full recoveries.

“This is the direct result of ongoing attacks and vilification of our officers by sanctuary politicians who incite and promote rampant assaults on our law enforcement, who are experiencing a 1,300% increase in assaults against them and an 8,000% increase in death threats.

“This is a developing situation, and we will provide the public with more information as it becomes available.

JD Vance weighs in

Vice President JD Vance also commented on the tragic shooting in Minneapolis on X this evening, offering support for the ICE officer involved.

In response to another post regarding the incident, Vance stated:

“You can recognize that this woman’s death is a tragedy while also acknowledging that it is a tragedy of her own making. Do not illegally interfere with federal law enforcement operations and attempt to run over our officers with your vehicle. It is truly that straightforward.”

In a different post, he further remarked:
“I want every ICE officer to understand that their president, vice president, and the entire administration fully supports them.”

“To the radicals who are attacking them, doxxing them, and threatening them: congratulations, we will intensify our efforts to enforce the law,” he concluded.

As investigations proceed, the death of Renee Nicole Good has emerged as a focal point in America’s ongoing discussion regarding immigration enforcement, police use of force, and political accountability — a debate that shows no indications of subsiding.
