People are all saying the same thing after 24-foot bronze statue of Sofía Vergara is unveiled in her hometown

Modern Family actress Sofia Vergara’s newly-unveiled hometown statue has made quite an impression on fans.

Best recognised on TV for her comedy work as Gloria Delgado-Pritchett in the sitcom, as well as judging America’s Got Talent since 2020, the 53-year-old was rewarded with her very own sculpture on the Gran Malecón of Barranquilla, Columbia this month, although she did not attend the ceremony.

Standing at over 5 feet and weighing more than 5 tonnes, this bronze rendering took seven months to complete and required as many as 35 people to get the job done, including students.

It was sculpted by local artist Yino Márquez, who’d previously done one for Barranquilla’s other famous daughter Shakira, yet some of the online reactions have been less than complimentary.

Over on Reddit, one person wrote: “As Shakira and Sofia I also share the same place of birth as them. And let me tell you they need to stop making these statues they are horrendous I’ve seen the one for Shakira and it looks nothing like her.”

“Who approved this?!?!” asked somebody else, clearly underwhelmed by its likeliness to Vergara.

“Can we get some people who know how to do faces when making statues?” read a third response, while a fourth person pointed out: “Looks like someone with a big foot fetish made that statue.”

“If it gets struck by lightning and comes to life, may God have mercy on us all,” was a joke probably aimed at fans of The Simpsons – relating to the Treehouse of Horror episode where Springfield’s monuments start killing everyone in sight.

Almost inevitably, another comment lined up Vergara’s statue against the one dedicated to footballer Cristiano Ronaldo, which was displayed at Madeira Airport to much derision back in 2017.

“She could do worse…” they noted.

Meanwhile, one Reddit message took a wholly different approach to the statue discourse.

“All my life I’ve walked past statues of writers like Herman Hesse, who were, in their day, also just famous people. I’ve never thought twice about it. Of course there’s a statue of this guy, or this poet. Yet it feels so odd to see statues made of living people,” they shared.

“Anyone else feel the same way? I imagine it makes perfect sense to have statues of people like Meryl Streep, yet despite her illustrious career I would feel odd knowing she still walks the earth while a statue of hers stands somewhere. I guess I feel like statues made of the living just feels wrong somehow.”

During the statue’s big reveal, Barranquilla mayor Alejandro Char had a few kind words to say on the star, even though she was reportedly on holiday in Sardinia at the time with her family and friends.

“Barranquilla surrenders at your feet, telling the whole world: thank you for being who you are, thank you for being a Barranquillera,” he began. “What better way to celebrate Sofía’s birthday than by honouring her with this beautiful work that represents her joy, charisma, authenticity, and unique spirit.”

Sofia Vergara has been called out by a Modern Family co-star as the ‘rudest celebrity’ she’s ever encountered.

The 52-year-old actor starred as Gloria Delgado-Pritchett in the much-loved comedy, alongside the likes of Julie Bowen, Ty Burrell, Sarah Hyland, and Nolan Gould.

While Vergara is very much praised for her role in Modern Family, one actor who has previously worked with her is certainly not a fan.

Kelly Mantle has opened up about her experience working with Vergara after she joined the Modern Family cast for a guest appearance as a drag queen in the 2019 episode ‘The Last Halloween’.

Speaking on The Bald and the Beautiful podcast with Trixie and Katya, Mantle dubbed Vergara the ‘rudest celebrity‘ she’s ever met after a whole fiasco with a wig and her general treatment of staff.

She said: “It was not the most pleasant experience I’ve ever experienced. It wasn’t toward me. It was the way that some of her staff were being treated.

“In the episode, she’s wearing a wig, and they kept wanting to put bobby pins in it, and she kept telling them no bobby pins.”

A scene then follows involving Mantle and Vergara, but it really doesn’t go to plan, according to Vergara.

“They yell action, and I’m supposed to put the crown on her hair. So I put the crown on, and then they say cut, and she’s like, ‘Watch out for the wig! You’re putting the crown on my head!'” Mantle added.

While Mantle acknowledged Vergara wasn’t the nicest on that particular set, she did concede the actor may have just been having a bad day.

“Maybe it was a bad day. I’m just going to say it was a bad day. Because she’s hilarious, and beautiful, and talented, and gorgeous. I’m sure it was a bad day,” she said on the podcast.

LADbible Group has reached out to Vergara’s representatives for comment.

It comes after the actor made all the headlines after her reaction to missing out on a Golden Globe to Jodie Foster went viral.

As Foster went up on stage to collect her accolade for Best TV Actress, Vergara was heard saying from the audience: “No, no! Not again! Give me one!”

A body language expert broke down Vergara’s reaction amid a lot of noise online.

Darren Stanton, for Betfair Casino, said: “Jodie Foster and Sofia Vergara shared mutual laugh during ‘light-hearted’ heckling.

“Jodie Foster being heckled by Sofia, is quite interesting.

“You’ve got Vergara who lost out, and Jodie’s a tough cookie. We didn’t see the classic signs of contempt, but what we did see is duper’s delight, which is when someone feels they’ve got away with something.

“Because Jodie knows her position in Hollywood, she flashes this big smile, it more or less signifies her position as a Hollywood megastar.”

Fans on social media are all saying the same thing after Justin Bieber shared a video of him kissing rapper Sexyy Red.

Bieber, 31, has sparked concern in recent weeks with a series of cryptic posts he’s shared on social media, including one in which he admitted to feeling ‘hate’ and ‘hurt’.

In one post the ‘What Do You Mean?’ singer said he was ‘always told when [he] was a kid not to hate but it made [him] feel like [he] wasn’t allowed to have it’.

“Which made me feel like [sic] I have been drowning feeling unsafe to acknowledge it,” he continued in the post. “I think we can only let hate go by first acknowledging it’s there, how couldn’t we feel hate from all of the hurt we have experienced?”

He’s also recently denied claims that he’s ‘broke’ and in million of dollars worth of debt.

Bieber took to Instagram once more earlier this week with the ‘Boyfriend’ hitmaker posting a video on Thursday (April 17) that sees him sitting in what appears to be a booth at a bar or a club as ‘Pound Town’ rapper Sexyy Red, 27, walks over and sits next to him.

The video immediately sees Sexyy Red go in for a hug before Bieber gave her a kiss on the cheek.

Set to the background music of Red’s song ‘Hoochie Coochie’, the pair then exchange a few words with evident smiles on both of their faces.

“Why does he look happier with her than with Hailey,” one fan said on social media, while other Bieber followers seemed to have a similar sentiment.

A second said: “He never been happier,” while a third added: “I forgot he could smile.”

Bieber married Hailey, 28, back in 2018, and the former was seemingly not bothered by the video as she commented on with a trio of love hearts.

The celebrity couple welcomed a baby boy last August, with Bieber announcing the special news on Instagram.

Bieber shared an image of one of the newborn’s tiny little feet, with Hailey’s hand in shot too.

The caption read: “Welcome home, Jack Blues Bieber.”

And it was immediately revealed there may be a heartwarming reason behind the baby’s name – specifically the name ‘Jack’.

Bieber’s father called Jeremy has the middle name of Jack, which led to many online suggesting it could be a sweet nod to his dad.

‘Unrecognizable’ statue of NBA legend is unveiled and fans are roasting the situation

NBA and Miami Heat legend Dwyane Wade was memorialized in the form of a statue put up outside the Kaseya Center

A statue of NBA star Dwyane Wade has been criticized by some social media users for being ‘completely unrecognizable’.

Yesterday (October 27), a statue of National Basketball Association (NBA) Miami Heat legend Dwyane Wade was unveiled at the Kaseya Center in Miami, Florida.

A video shows the moment the 8ft bronze statue of the basketball player was unveiled, two of the walls concealing it from public view pulled back, smoke billowing and cheers erupting from the surrounding crowds, oh and if that wasn’t enough – a few plumes of fire blaze up behind for good measure.

As the smoke clears, it gives way to the statue of a figure wearing a Miami Heat vest with the number three on it, the figure’s arms raised in the air and fingers pointing down, the statue’s mouth open in a shout – reportedly paying tribute to a moment during Wade’s sixth NBA season when he scored one of the most memorable shots of his career on March 9, 2009.

The plinth the statue is stood on reads: “This is my house!” – which were the words Wade yelled after making the shot in 2009.

Alas, had it not been for the news coverage surrounding the statue’s unveiling – and Wade being present for the unveiling himself – some social media users voiced they may’ve struggled to identify who it’s actually of.

One Twitter user said: “Trying to replicate an emotional expression like that is a great idea but should’ve stayed an idea.”

“Dwyane Wade’s Heat career -15 seasons -3 championships -All-time leader in points, games, assists, and steals -1 completely unrecognizable statue,” Barstool Sports commented.

A third commented: “I loved the @Avengers! This Thanos statue is.”

“Who approved this?????” a fourth wrote, while a fifth said: “Why are statues so hard!? We’ve only been doing it since the beginning of EVERYTHING!”

A sixth wrote: “Congrats to Dwade but who is the sculptor?”

And the sculptors behind the piece have since opened up about creating the commemorative artwork.

Sculptors Oscar León and Omri Amrany are the artistic minds and hands behind the sculpture and León told WSVN that the pair were ‘trying to one-up what we’ve done in the past in terms of design, execution, composition’.

The sculpture is made up of around ‘700 to 800 pounds worth of clay’ and one of the biggest challenges was making it seem like Wade was ‘up in the air somehow’.

And Wade was actually quite ‘heavily involved’ in the process too, he says, with the NBA star advising on the statue and making small tweaks and changes.

“I’m very vain, and so, if my eyebrow was off a little bit, I was letting them know,” he said.

Despite some changes here and there, León added Wade ‘walked away very happy’ with the outcome of the statue.

“By that last visit, he had basically seen everything he wanted to see. We made all the adjustments he wanted,” the artist said.

In a news conference on Sunday, Wade also said, as quoted by the Miami Herald: “I’m biased, but I think it’s one of the best statues that’s been created because of what it represents for us and for me.”

So I guess if Wade’s happy then that’s really all that should matter eh?

Everyone left saying the same thing after shocking footage shows tourist breaking ‘Van Gogh’ chair after sitting on it

The unnamed couple have been heavily criticized online for their ‘irresponsible’ actions

People are all saying the same thing about a couple who broke a piece of artwork in an Italian museum.

The pair of tourists have gone viral for all the wrong reasons after Palazzo Maffei Verona shared security footage of the moment they both sat on a chair that was clearly part of an exhibition for photos.

The artwork in question was created by Nicola Bolla and consists of a crystal-covered chair resembling the one depicted in Van Gogh’s 1888 painting.

While the museum has since shared the shocking footage to its social media pages, it has not identified the couple who broke the chair. Instead, it said that sharing the video was an ‘opportunity to reflect and raise public awareness’.

Palazzo Maffei Verona said in a statement: “An irresponsible gesture at Palazzo Maffei. What you have just seen is not a joke, but an episode that actually happened in the rooms of Palazzo Maffei.

“Superficial and disrespectful behavior has put the integrity of a work of art at risk: the ‘Van Gogh’ chair by the artist Nicola Bolla was damaged by some visitors, who, waiting for the security guards to leave, chose to take an ‘effective’ photo, ignoring every rule of respect towards art and cultural heritage.

“We decided not to limit ourselves to a simple report of the incident. We want to transform this episode into an opportunity to reflect and raise public awareness: art must be admired, experienced, but above all respected. Always.”

The video has sparked a huge response on social media, with a lot of people left saying the same thing…

“I hope they pay for the damage and if it’s invaluable, they must at least give them a pretty fine,” one person wrote.

“They should be identified and punished for the damage caused,” suggested another.

Echoing similar sentiments, somebody else penned: “I hope and asked for the damage to the restoration.”

A different person questioned: “Have those responsible been charged? Did they pay for the damage?”

Away from calling for the couple to be forced to pay up, others argued that the artwork should have had ropes around it to make it clearer that it wasn’t made for sitting on.

It’s believed that the chair has since been restored. It’s unknown how much it cost to do so, though.

UNILAD have approached the Italian museum for comment on this and for clarification on charges or fines the couple might now face.
